Your Vote, Your Voice: Understand the Upcoming Elctions
Tuesday 18 November is the day of the local municipal and regional elections of 2025 and if you meet the voting criteria, you have a unique opportunity to shape the community you live in. Local politics affect your daily life – from schools, healthcare to climate efforts and cultural activities.
During this event you will get an introduction to the Danish political system and local elections by electoral analyst Kasper Møller Hansen. He will guide you through the Danish democratic system and hot topics in the 2025 municipal and regional elections.
Since this might be your first time voting in Denmark, Kasper will also walk you through the process: From receiving your voting card to what happens at the polling station. You’ll learn what to expect on election day, how to fill out your ballot, and how your vote is counted.
Afterwards, you’ll have the opportunity to engage and discuss topics directly with the political candidates in an informal setting.
If you are eligible to vote or just curious about the Danish political system this event is for you.
Who can vote:
- First of all, you have to be 18 years of age or above.
- Second, you have to be permanently residing in your municipality or region.
Lastly, if you’re either:

- A citizen of Iceland, Norway, or the United Kingdom
- Or a citizen of a non-EU member state, but have been residing in Denmark for a period of four years.
