Helping Your Child Thrive in Denmark: Language Development

This event is for parents who want to better understand and support their child’s language development in a new environment – especially families who have relocated to Denmark and are navigating life in a new language and culture together.

Language is closely connected to children’s sense of well-being, confidence and belonging – and plays a central role in how they thrive socially, emotionally, and in their daily lives.

Multilingual children have a unique gift – and a complex language journey. How do children learn new languages – and how do they maintain their mother tongue(s)? What stages does your child go through in the process? And what should you do if your child refuses to use a specific language?

Before the event, participants will receive a short video introduction to the topic to help you get the most out of it and prepare your questions. At the event we then dedicate most of the time to a live Q&A session with expert Amanda Sandegaard. Amanda is a linguist and MA in children’s language and literature. She has been sharing her knowledge for 6 years at the Copenhagen Libraries and is the creator of the video series Strengthen Your Child’s Language.

The event is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg ØKS program and is part of the Cross-border Talent Bridge project. Learn more about the project here.
