International Café – by Welcome Ambassadors

Looking to meet your neighbours and unwind mid-week?

Explore Danish food culture

At this café, we will explore Danish food culture, traditions and history - from everyday Danish dishes to the rise of New Nordic cuisine.Together, we will look at how Danish food traditions have developed over time and learn more about some of the ideas and people behind the New Nordic food movement, which helped put Denmark on the international culinary map.

Through conversation and small activities, participants will be invited to share their experiences with Danish food, favourite dishes and food traditions from their own cultures. We will also talk about which foods go well together - and why - and use food as a starting point for stories, cultural exchange and new connections. Please note that this is not a shared dinner or potluck event, and participants do not need to bring food. Light snacks will be provided.

About the project

Meet the International Ambassadors of Ørestad, a group of 12 volunteer ambassadors - both internationals and Danes - brought together by the shared belief in community, inclusion, and the power of meaningful connections.

Together with International House Copenhagen, the ambassador corps creates welcoming spaces where newcomers and long-time residents can meet, talk, and grow together - and make Copenhagen feel more like home. Whether you’re new to Denmark or simply looking to expand your social circle, you can join the events that are open to everyone
