Greater Copenhagen Neighbourhoods: Exploring Ørestad
During this event we will take you on a journey into the heart of a neighbourhood where bold urban visions meet everyday life, culminating in a dynamic district that bridges local collaboration and community living. From its visionary beginnings to its current role as a vital connection between Denmark and Sweden, Ørestad represents an innovative approach to city planning and cross-border cooperation.
So, whether you already know Ørestad well or are completely new to this vibrant part of Copenhagen, there will be something exciting for you!
But Ørestad is more than its infrastructure and strategic ambitions – it’s also home to a diverse and growing community. Through personal stories, two international Copenhageners will share their stories and experiences from working and living here. How do they experience building a daily life in such a unique urban environment? What are the challenges, and what makes Ørestad special? They’ll reveal their favorite places, activities, and hidden gems in the district, offering insights that will inspire both newcomers and long-time residents.
Continuing the community focus, an example of local engagement opportunities is presented by the Bella Uno cultural association.
The event will also feature a keynote presentation by Sophie Bruun, Director of Ørestad Innovation City Copenhagen. She will share insights into Ørestad’s development, its nature as a hub and knowledge ecosystem, and its role in Greater Copenhagen as a whole.
We will end the event with a community dinner, offering a chance to connect with other internationals and continue the conversation in a relaxed setting.
