Volunteering in Copenhagen

Volunteering is becoming increasingly popular and a new study reveals that Danes put a total of one million hours into volunteering a day.

According to a newly launched study by The National Volunteer Centre of Denmark, a total of one million hours a day is spent on volunteering at various sports- and homework clubs, crisis centres, soup kitchens, asylum centres and music festivals in Denmark. In addition to individual efforts, municipalities have also started collaborating with volunteer organisations in order to strengthen the sector.

The interest in volunteering has increased significantly in just two years, showing that 4 out of 10 Danes have been engaged in some sort of volunteer work within the last year and 7 out of 10 within the last five years. That’s a lot and it makes us wonder – what’s it all about?
