Copenhagen Host Program

Copenhagen Host Program 2016 | english

New to Copenhagen? Why not get a volunteer host who can help you in your job search, practice Danish with you or show you Copenhagen?

NB! Copenhagen Host Program has moved - but you can still reach a Copenhagen Host Program consultant at the International House on Tuesdays from 10.00-15.00 and Fridays from 10.00-14.00.

People come to Copenhagen from all over the world for many different reasons. For many newcomers it can be a challenge to learn the language, get to know the local community and establish a network that can lead to friendship, job or education.

Copenhagen Host Program matches newcomers who have been in Denmark for less than 5 years, with local volunteer hosts who speak the Danish language and know about the local community and job market. Meetings between newcomers and volunteer hosts enable mutual learning between fellow citizens and help newcomers get a good start on their lives in Copenhagen.

People from Copenhagen who volunteer for the Host Program enjoy making new acquaintances and learning about the culture and experiences of newcomers. They understand that everyone in Denmark will benefit when new immigrants feel welcomed and get some friendly help during the early settlement period.

Copenhagen Host Program is a co-operation between the City of Copenhagen and Association New Dane, and the services are free of charge. You can read more about Association New Dane here.

How to register? Send an email to and tell us what kind of host you would like to be matched with.
